Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2 July 2026  ·  Last updated: 2 July 2026

Save My Brain (“the App”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is an Android focus and app‑blocking application operated by Swayam Loya, an individual developer based in India (“the Developer”).

This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, why we collect it, how it is stored and shared, and the choices and rights you have. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to everyone who uses the Save My Brain Android app. The App is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create an account (see Section 10).

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account information

When you sign up or sign in, we collect your email address (to create and identify your account and to enable password reset) and a display name (from your chosen sign‑in provider or entered during setup; visible to other users in social features — see Section 5). You can sign in using any of the following methods:

  • Email and password (managed by Firebase Authentication)
  • Google Sign‑In (name and email from your Google account)
  • Facebook Login (name and email, using the email and public_profile permissions)

We never see or store your Google or Facebook password. Passwords for email sign‑up are handled securely by Firebase Authentication and are not accessible to us.

2.2 Focus and activity data

  • Blocking profiles you create — including the names of the apps you choose to block and their settings (schedule, blocking strategy).
  • Focus session records — start and end time, duration, the profile used, blocking strategy, whether the session completed successfully, whether it was strict, and the number of blocked app launches.
  • Focus intent — the optional short text you enter describing what you are working on.
  • Aggregate statistics — current streak, longest streak, total focus time, total blocked launches, and points earned.

2.3 Feedback you send

If you use the in‑app feedback feature, we collect the message you write, your account ID, the app version, and — only if you choose to provide it — an email address for us to reply to.

2.4 Information accessed through device permissions

The App uses certain Android permissions to function. The data these permissions expose is used on your device to enable blocking and statistics and is not itself uploaded to our servers, except as the aggregate focus statistics described above:

  • Accessibility Service — used only to detect which app is currently in the foreground so the App can block it during a session. This permission cannot and does not read your screen contents, messages, passwords, or any data inside other apps.
  • Usage Access — used to read aggregate app‑usage time so we can display your focus statistics. We do not read what you do inside other apps.
  • Display over other apps — used to show the focus block screen on top of a blocked app.
  • Notifications, Exact Alarms, Boot Completed, Foreground Service, Vibrate — used to deliver your focus reminders and streak alerts, to run scheduled blocking profiles reliably, and to keep an active session running.

2.5 What we do NOT collect

We do not collect or access the contents of your messages, emails, notifications, or screen; your contacts, photos, camera, or microphone; your location; or any advertising identifiers. The App contains no ads and no advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

3. Android permissions summary

Permission Why it is used
Accessibility Service Detect the foreground app to block it during a session (no content is read)
Usage Access Calculate time spent per app for your focus statistics
Display over other apps Show the block screen on top of distracting apps
Notifications Deliver your daily focus nudge and streak‑at‑risk alerts
Exact Alarm Start and stop scheduled blocking profiles at the right time
Foreground Service Keep an active focus session running reliably
Receive Boot Completed Restore scheduled profiles after your device restarts
Internet Sync your account and focus data with our cloud provider
Vibrate Haptic feedback within the app

4. How we use your information

We use your information only to:

  • Create, secure, and manage your account
  • Provide the App’s core blocking and focus features
  • Show your streaks, statistics, and session history
  • Sync and back up your data across sessions and re‑installs
  • Enable social features you choose to use (Focus Rooms and Brain Pact)
  • Send you the focus reminders and streak alerts you have enabled
  • Respond to feedback and support requests
  • Maintain security and prevent abuse or cheating of points/leaderboards

We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.

5. Social features — data shared with other users

Some features are optional and, when you use them, share limited information with other users:

  • Focus Rooms — if you create or join a Focus Room using a room code, your display name and your focus session status within that room are visible to the other members of that room.
  • Brain Pact (Challenges) — if you start or accept a challenge using a challenge code, your display name, chosen emoji, and points are visible to your challenge opponent.
  • Points and streaks may be used to rank participants within these features.

These features are entirely optional. If you do not create or join a room or challenge, none of this information is shared with other users. You control what your display name is.

6. Third‑party services

We rely on the following third‑party providers to operate the App. Your data is processed by them under their own privacy policies:

We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, AdMob, or any advertising network.

7. Where your data is stored and how it is secured

  • On your device: Your blocking profiles and session history are stored locally using an on‑device database.
  • In the cloud: Your account details, focus history, statistics, rooms, challenges, and feedback are stored in Google Cloud Firestore. Access is restricted by Firebase security rules so that your personal account data can only be accessed by you, except for the limited information shared through the social features described in Section 5.
  • We do not operate our own servers; all cloud storage and authentication are provided by Google Firebase.
  • Firebase may process and store data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States (see Section 11).

While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data retention

  • We retain your account and focus data for as long as your account remains active.
  • You can delete all your on‑device and synced app data at any time from Settings → Clear All Data in the App.
  • You may request full deletion of your account and all associated cloud data by contacting us (see Section 12). We will process such requests within 30 days.
  • Feedback messages may be retained after account deletion for support and product‑improvement purposes, in de‑identified form where practical.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights under laws such as India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or the EU/UK GDPR, including:

  • Access — you can view your data within the App at any time.
  • Correction — you can edit your display name and profiles in the App.
  • Deletion — you can clear all data in‑app, or request account and cloud‑data deletion by email.
  • Withdraw consent — you can revoke any Android permission in your device settings, or stop notifications in the App’s settings. Some features will stop working without required permissions.

To exercise any right that cannot be completed within the App, contact us at the email in Section 12.

10. Children’s privacy

The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. International data transfers

We are based in India and use Google Firebase, which may store and process data on servers in other countries, including the United States. Wherever your data is processed, we take steps to ensure it is handled in accordance with this policy.

12. Links to other websites

The App and our website may contain links to third‑party websites (for example, our website or a consultation‑booking page). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
